What year is your car?

Edit: Saw in your other thread its a 99. You can't increase the boost on your car safely without running some kind of chip tuning. If you take off your N75 and run a boost controller like you're probably thinking about doing, your car will run lean and you'll frag a rod or something.

^ Don't listen to a single thing he says! Go ahead and crank the boost, get a BOV instead of a DV (the whoosh sound means it's fast), and get a massive wing.

Pat, you ******* noob, you forgot the most important thing again: fake Buick portholes on the fenders. All the cool kids with the Grand Ams are doing it.

All seriousness, Chris is right - without a chip, you're trusting the calibration of your fingertips on the preload screw of an MBC. Not the way to go on these cars.

Alright perfect, thats what I wanted to know. IM in the middle of building another engine and researching on turbo upgrades that work with these cars which is a mission lol. Just wanted to know if I could raise the boost safely with out extra work. Well any good advice on a certain company to have my ecu chipped? Should I just wait to have my ecu chipped when I drop in the new motor and turbo? Also fry a rod from running lean???? Um you mean melting a piston, or ovaling cyl. walls, or even seperating the cyl walls? I have owned many boosted cars, just first audi im playing with and thats why im asking for advice. Thanks for the people who were serious, also for the record im not a ricer, im just new to the audis.

I said "frag" a rod, not fry. As in you run lean, the air/fuel mixture detonates on the compression stroke before the spark, and you snap a rod which then ejects itself in many very sharp pieces through the cylinder wall and out of your engine block.

As for your tuning situation, is the motor you're building the same engine code as the one in your car? If you wanted to upgrade the stock motor while you're building/collecting parts for the new one, you're gonna want to go with a company like Unitronics, GIAC, or Motoza. They all sell base K03 tunes, as well as BT, hybrid K04 (frankenturbo), and BAT tunes. If the engine code on the motor you're building is the same as the one in your car currently, you could use the same ECU and just get a re-flash for the new motor, which would come at a discount.

If you go with say, APR, they don't sell their big turbo tunes separately from their Stage III turbo kit. So you'd pay $500 or whatever for a K03 tune that would be useless when you swap in the new motor.

With regards to your build, what are your power goals? Budget? Anything specific you're shooting for like quicker spool, higher top end power, a specific power band, etc?

Im looking for quick spool, but im looking to run at least 20lbs, budget when it comes to the engine I dont really have a budget. When it comes to the turbo I dont want to pay more then $500-$800. I would like to run external waste gate. Anything after 3k rpm and cosistent to red line maybe 8k would be great. Any advice?
