I agree with you,100% There are just some things, you shouldn't **** with and this is one of them.

I plan on shipping mine off to the company on Ebay, when Audina is 100% trouble free, she's 99.9% trouble free with no check engine lights at the moment but like i said in the previous post,i smell light fumes in the cabin, sometimes and unless this is normal,(which i doubt) i plan on fixing that too.

unless you have soldered boards before i wouldn't recommend messing with the cluster everything in there is minuscule.
morph - what you mean by you smell light fumes? burnt electric smell?

No,electronics gives off a burnt smell,where fuel or oil,gives off fumes,i have a very light fume,odor.

I am not sure about this but is it normal,to smell fumes, when you lift your hood and put your face in the engine, while its running?

Maybe a hint of exhaust fumes?,i am not sure, being i haven't smelled a lot of odors to compare the smell with, being i am not mechanic and haven't smell a lot of odors, associated with vehicles.

Which hoses under the hood, are responsible, for channeling this type of aroma?

I changed all the vacuum lines,so what else could be leaking, these deadly, toxic fumes in the cabin?

There isn't any oil, dripping under the car,if i remember correctly,i think i saw, light smoke, coming from underneath the hood, while its closed in the light, coming from the headlights at night.

I just had the valve cover gasket and seals done about 3 going on 4 weeks ago,so i doubt its an oil leak but then again, you never know with a B5.

I'll check again for the smoke at night,i'll also keep my nose clean and sniff, while in the cabin, when driving to see if i smell any fumes, anymore.

It could have been the old oil from before i had the valve cover gasket and seals replaced, just burning off the manifold.

any guesses to where the smell is originating?

Well...i'll say this....When i had my mechanic work on my Audi a few weeks back,he didn't push in the upper radiator hose,in enough for it to "click".

Driving on my way back to him,it came loose on the highway.

I saw a big puff of white smoke in the rear view mirror and within a minute, while pulling over, after seeing the temp gauge past the middle, the over heating sound and symbol came up on my screen.

I got out the car so see coolant, leaking on the ground like a fountain, coolant tank was empty.

I made it to an exit just 2 miles up,a dentist office was open on a Saturday,so they gave me a jug of water and i bleed the coolant system of air for about 15-20 minutes until the t-stat opened and the temp gauge began to return to the middle.

I smelled burnt coolant, evaporating off the manifold for a few days,so i know what coolant smell like, very sweet like candy and this smell isn't sweet.

Well...i don't even smell it all the time,it could be me,though. I'll look for it for another few days and report back to you fellas. Its not like the smell is over whelming or anything like that, just a hint and i don't even smell it,when the heat is on,with econ enabled.

Anyone know why when i turn on my heat,it blows warm air but when i enable"ECON" it blows hot air? what does ECON mean? Economy?

I've used the ECON button with AC and heat and it has an effect,i think it has to do with the AC suppressor, being turned on or off, correct?

the econ runs the A/c with no compressor. I have never heard it having an effect on heat.

hey morph - can you lead me to the yellow wire i need from the ecu for the fuel signal? i can find the ecu connector i need. I did the ground thing and it killed all the warning lights. so thanks you made my day in that aspect!

Default She

2001 1.8t 5sp She has 160000, bought it w/ 157000. She is a virgin! no mods no nothing. Just trying to sort out all the silly **** first. Clear my head then come up with a plan to start modding. Bought the Kevlar TB kit. Need to find a good MAF as my VAG told me it needs one. Not a vacum leak. So far I had to do new gas cap, new fan, new o2 sensors (both), reconnect the antennea to the rear glass. New one put in before I owned it and they just ripped it out and never connected anything but defroster. Changed all the bodily fluids with syn. But I love her and I want to make her a sleeper. Between 300 and 350. So I can scare the **** out of some people.
