How much boost before needing mods

How much boost before needing mods
Looking at getting an '01 A4 Quattro with the 1.8t
Was wondering how much boost you can run before you need to get a bigger IC or raise fuel pressure or get bigger injectors. If I ordered a Calibration from APR could I ask them to raise the boost on their cal... Just trying to figure out what I can do before I need to start upgrading fuel system or intake system.
I am not a newb when it comes to forced induction car as I have done some serious work to my turbo dodge but these newer cars seem a good bit different with all the sensors
Thanks

I am pretty sure you have to worry more about what the stock turbo can do then what your injectors and stuff can do. The stock turbo runs out of power pretty easy. There is a lot of great info on this kind of stuff in the FAQ https://www.audiforums.com/forum/audi-a4-8/newbie-guide-version-2-a-80968/

I read that already but 11psi stock isn't very much boost, and you can always cool your intake temps with a bigger IC. I used to run my mitsu turbo on my original 2.2 to 18-20 psi and that was way beyond its efficiency but it was still fine because of the big FMIC I had.

stock boost is 8psi. and cooling your intake temps isnt the problem. when you increase the boost on stock software you can lean out the air/fuel mix and cause all sorts of bad things.
although the 01's have map sensors and, i believe, wideband O2's from the factory, so you might have some headroom to play with. search for "diode mod" and read up about it.
about 18 is a good number for the little k03(s) in there, and is already out of its efficiency range. you dont really gain any power by going higher then 22psi. and any amount of boost you run on the stock turbo your powerband is going to suck. it just falls on its face above 5k RPMs

I am just interested in 200awhp with out having to mess around with out throwing a big turbo on it. I am having a hard time finding dyno charts of an a4 quattro with a chip and a down pipe.
With out a map sensor how did the car know how much boost it was making? My 20 year old dodge had a 2 bar map from the factory. I never messed with the zenoir diode trick because I could get a 3 bar calibration for it and a 3 bar map from a gnx to put on it.

older B5's without MAPs dont care how much pressure they are making. the MAF numbers are enough. as long as it knows the volume of air flowing, it doesnt care at what pressure. on these older A4s if you upped the PSI, the car could sort of compensate by adding more fuel, but only to a point, and it didnt really know what A/F ratio you had due to the narrow band sensors, so there wasnt as much room to play with without a chip.
if all you want is 200 whp, just get a chip (http://www.speedtuningusa.com/) for $300 and call it a day. also forget everything you know about turbo dodges or any other car. this is a completely different animal.

My only point was that you chip the car to lets say 20psi your already past the efficiency range even w/ an intercooler upgrade. Your injectors can handle everything your stock turbo can give them. So just buy a chip if you get the car and have fun. I myself would rather spend the money on a K04 upgrade and tune but thats not cheap at all.... lol I am pretty happy w/ my 2.8 even if its only 190 crank hp. The problem w/ pushing the turbo anymore is it is just so small that you end up lacking exhaust flow even w/ a free flowing exhaust its just bottle necking you badly.
