No, it should be good then, but definitely the tensioner. Once it's unsprung, you don't want to compress it and reuse it.

My mechanic told me I need head gaskets and a power steering pump too.
He said he wouldn't do the heads because the car wasn't in good enough shape.
Everyone else I know always comments on how great shape it is!
He recommended a new engine but then said that wouldn't make sense either since it's an 04..
I expected to drive this car til at least 200+

hello
i found the few oil leak in exthost 4 i think the head gasket start damage so i want to change it and no have temp few water with oil .
its need to make a pressure test for the head ?
when we change the head gasket its need to open the Camshaft Chain Tensioner ?
what is the tighten torque ?
pleas advice me .
for Audi A4 1.8t Quattro 1999 .

i found a local mechanic thats doing the job for 650 parts and labor, he said it was the head gasket and that ive been running on 3 cylider bc coolant was puddled up in cylinder 2 and it wasing getting a spark. He really seams to know his stuff and does it out of a shop behind his house. charges 45 an hour. I think i got lucky on this on. He was refered to my by a lamas audi driver that i know.
