How much should my 1.8 rev?

When im driving in fifth gear about 60mph or 100kmh my 1997 a4 1.8 with no mods is revving around 3000 is that normal or is something wrong ?

Well that really depends on if it is FWD or Quattro and if it is a 1.8 or a 1.8T.

5th gear at 3k rpm
1.8T Quattro = 66 mph.
1.8L Euro Quattro = 59.7 mph
1.8T Euro FWD = 69.4 mph
1.8L Euro FWD = 62.4 mph
