Default How screwed am I?

So my car has been running perfect. The past couple days, I've noticed it was taking an extra second to start but chocked it up to being cold outside.

Tonight, I parked it at at the restaurant, came back an hour later and it just crank crank crank crank crank. Turning over perfectly but not starting. This went on for about 5 trys. Finally, it started but then my CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON and stayed on. Drove perfectly all the way home. No loss of power, no rough idle. Nothing. Parked it in the garage and tried again3 hours later. Wouldn't start when I tried so I didn't try a second time.

Yes, I can hear the fuel pump primeing upon turning the key to accessory. ANY IDEAS? Thank you.

Coolant Temp Sensor. That was my issue. I could drive it warmed up and stop somewhere and it would not start. Very intermitent but an extreme pain in the *** if you need to get somewhere. Usually takes about 10-20 minutes to cool and then restarts.

The Audi indy that replaced mine mentioned there are 2 CTS in the 98 2.8. He replaced both. No issues since.

Also you may need to have the throttle body adapted. That is also a cause if it gets screwed up or dirty. Search for adaptation. Good luck.

No scan yet, I need to run my autozone or something.

Do you recall what the cost was for your repair?

The car has been sitting for 24 hours. I just went to start it while cold and same thing. Took 3 tries to start. Ill post back after the scan.

Yeah now it just flat out won't start. So much for driving to autozone to scan.

Ok update (if you care). Got the car to start 6 times in a row. One thing I noticed tho is that the exhaust is super sweet smelling. Reminds me of when my dirtbike used to get flooded. Is it possible its flooded and that's why once it starts, it idles and drives perfectly? I'm still going to pull the codes but I'm at a loss as to why it takes forever to get started but then idles perfect once started.
