would the HP rating of a 2001 1.8 be higher than that of a pre 2001 after chipping? The 01 comes with 30 more hp stock but I was under the impression that not all of it translates after chipping

^ Depends on what you are comparing. A AEB has a big port head and ko3 and the ATW is small port head with a ko3 and a AWM is a small port and ko3s. The ko3s should net you a good 5-10whp more and the small port seems to be better suited for under 300hp cars. But all should be rather comparable with equal mods.

tq is great, should see a nice hp increase with a turbo back exhaust. Its pretty much where it should be with your mods and fwd

Do you think it would be worth it to get a carbonio?? there is a place right around the corner from me that stocks them. just wondered if there would be an increase in power and or sound???

Just sound. You be better off spending that money on opening up the exhaust and upgrading the ic

180-190awhp isnt unheard of with a ko3. Chaos is going to cry, but the small port heads work better on a stock turbo since the design of the runner keeps the velocity higher. Main reason they switched in 2k on all 1.8t's in the US
lmao, well thats all well and good for k03 guys looking to make better "power" but then if you upgrade the turbo (to where your actually starting to make power) it turns into a disadvantage

Not really, with a proper port job it will flow about the same but with an increase in velocity. And with the cost of sp vs bp heads, the port will cost about the same. Believe all of qedpowers heads are all sp also.

Is a FMIC really worth it with a k03..? I thought you only go FMIC k04 and larger?

the stock smic gets heatsoak with just a chip. Increase the boost to 20-22psi and you deff need to cool down the temps. A good fmic will get the iats to almost ambient and that will give you power and also allow you to add in some timing for even more power.

But if I run like 18ish.. would a fmic help at all? I want one but I dont wanna get it just for the looks.. also, can you get around the secondary air injection pump or do you always have to remove it?
