Thank you. OK, here goes:

sineo - I think that by sanding the overflow cap with something a little more coarse than usual (say 400 grit instead of 600) the paint probably would stick to it. I"ll have to look into it - never considered it, but it would help a lot. As for the oil cap mating to the VC, I did not mask that, but you can bet your sweet buns that tomorrow I'll be plugging the oil fill and shaving that down so it seals right. Thanks for the tip

FasterA4ThanUrs - as hiwords said, it's Duplicolor engine enamel, the 500-degree variety. I used Ford Red, and didn't have to prime the VCs at all. I took them out, sprayed them down with brake cleaner really well, used a stiff brush and shop towels to clean them up, and then sprayed about four coats on them, giving maybe 10 minutes between coats.

SuprA4 - I thought about that as well and I agree that it would look great. It'll probably happen the next time I get bored and get a wild hair.

CAB509 - I like that idea - nothing wrong with being different for sure.

hiwords - you're batting a thousand - guessed all of it correctly
