I have these 2 KKK K16-2 Turbos...

I currently own a pair of 30K mile KKK K16-2 turbochargers off of a 1998 Porsche 911 Turbo. I had originally picked them up to build a turbo setup for my 91 Taurus SHO... a car I sold in Dec. 2006. They are in really nice shape and I've had them for almost 3 years, but I don't know what to do with them. New or even rebuilt, these turbos are outrageously expensive, so they need a home. Or I need a 911. (not going to happen soon).

My question is does anyone have specs on these turbos? I can take pics if necessary.

Would strapping one to a 1.8T have any benefits? How do they compare versus K03 or K04? In 1998, they were used to create 408hp on an AWD 3.6L 911 Turbo and a chip made these cars into animals, but that was with two and on 3.6L (twice a 1.8 for the math-challenged).

I was a professional technician 4 years, but my time was spent learning diagnosis and repairs, so I'm still learning the world of turbo upgrades.

Are these useable for any kind of upgrade? What about some kind of hybrid?

Any help is appreciated.

I have seen some companys (Swedish)selling k16:s as a upgrade for A4:s and if I don´t remember wrong they were suppoused to produce around 300hp.
Don't know what model of k-16 they use.

you will only be able to use one of them...my guess is that if you can get one fitted correctly you could probably run a modified j-31 tune

my guess is you will end up pushing somewhere around 250 awhp....

if the turbos really only have 30k on them I wouldn't bother doing a rebuild, unless you can feel massive shaft play....or you can see fin damage...

alright....gl!

Only place i have seen use those turbos is OCT from stratmosphere.com. They have akit made for a TT ($12k!!!). Here is their bhp claim

I know you can buy a K16 manifold, but you would have to do everything else. A file made for a gt28r will work well with it.

Hope you guys plan on having a manifold made. The only person that makes a manifold for it is Dalhback and in true Dahlback fashion, its $1900 http://kmdtuning.com/store/index.php...;productId=181

Of course I'll only use one... I might be a noob to turbos, but I'm certainly not an idiot! To me, all this one-off work wouldn't be worth 250 as my goal is more around 300 hp. I would think an aggressive K04 setup would be cheaper to build and have the same results, no?

That's a pretty impressive gain. Whether it's worth $12K is questionable, but I'd be happy with those numbers as they seem pretty close to my goal. {edit: thanks for the manifold info} As for building the rest, I think simply using the guidelines of a gt28r as far as injectors, FMIC, MBC, VR6 MAF, should work, am I far off?

Well, that I don't know. The problem is that they are left and right turbos from a 3.6L 911 Turbo, so the housings are opposite. If I used one, would you be able to use the opposite one?

based on the bhp listed above, it puts it right on par with the gt28r but with faster spool. Find a flange and have someone fab you up a manifold and cat section.

While I'm sure that the dyno above is at least a little b.s., that is beautiful. That torque curve is gorgeous, and the power goes right where it needs to!
