I just did this to my shifter plate. Check the root page, could be some ideas.

Jeremy (ImTheDevil) painted his trim piano black at one point, now it's covered in black suede. Maybe he'll chime in with recommendations.
You could also snag some trim from people parting out their cars. Check the classifieds on here, Vortex and Audizine. I'm sure you'll find something.

Heres what I did to mine
The long dash piece is by far the hardest part but other than that its really not too hard.
With wallys suggestion once you get the trim piece off the car I ran painters tape down the entire legnth of the piece so it was all covered and then sprayed my adhesive onto the tape and stuck on my material. This way if you ever want to take it off you dont have to worry about the glue ruining the trim. And just as a side note I got the material at Joanne fabrics on clearance for like $3 a yard so its a real nice upgrade for the money.

^_^
see meloman, what you did to your car is beautiful it looks mad clean, so my best bet would be to keep the wood grain as it is and apply the painters tape as well as the adhesive and material? or should i plan to remove the trim, but then again i would most likely damage the trim if i try to just pull it off right? any help please?

You need to remove the trim to do it right. It's not that hard (although that wide dash piece is a pain in the ***). The Audiworld tech article called "making brushed aluminum trim" walks you step by step through the removal. Paint it or wrap it, whichever you like. I did mine in black suede for a subtle change and love it. Let us know if we can help with any specifics on removal or wrapping the parts. Here's how mine came out:
