I know it's only October but...
it's never "WAY too big a deal" when you find yourself wishing you had any of them. I always replace my blades after the winter no matter the condition. And it's always just a suggestion. BLizzak's are good.....but not the Holy Grail when it comes to winter tires either, far as I know there is nothing wrong with Green Diamonds.
Then again opinions are like ********......everyone's got one!

I have no idea why you are even making the assumption that I or anyone condones driving on crap tires or using crappy wiper blades.
The OP asked what others do to prepare for winter......hence the checklist.
am I missing something??????

I have no idea why you're not understanding this. These are not things to "prepare for winter." They're things you should do regularly regardless. The point is that other than carrying an ice scraper and stuff, if you take care of your car, you don't need to do anything special to "prepare for winter."
@kayak: Good job. Come in, don't understand the conversation and start shelling insults at other people? But man, I wish I owned an A4 when I was 13.

You'd be surprised how many people fail to do what you say people "should do regularly". I understand that this is something everyone SHOULD do, but not many do.
HENCE THE CHECKLIST....
kayak you are correct.....not worth arguing

switch to 15" wheels with all seasons. thats about it for me. but i usually let it warm up a long time. like i go inside and take a shower while its warming up. it helps with my synchros being shitty. o yeah, turn on seat warmers. love them bitches. i already am using them. its getting below freezing already up here in favre land
but its funny what all u people do for winter... i live in crappy california, there is nothing to do, maybe replace the wiper blades... but it rarely ever rains here there is no point... so now my big headache is waiting for the new window regulators to come in so i can roll my windows up just in case it does rain lol
edit holy **** whats with all the whining and ****? dude drunk made a suggestion, u made a suggestion and kayak made a comment on both the suggestions... let it go... and insulting someone based on their age is more childish than being 13 with an a4

yeah i know it bad on the car but have you ever driven a cold vehicle when its 30 below zero out? its doesnt work. i know they put that in the manual but they also list a reason that its "bad for the environment". well i dont really care about the environment when its 30 below!
Just to be obnoxious, what drunk was trying to explain was that he puts on winter tires, puts emergency winter style gear in trunk and re applies Rain-X. Now while you should have rain-x all year, the coming of winter is a good time to reapply. Get some fresh stuff on. Same applies to wipers. While his may be tolerable during the not-so rainy months, its very nice to have brand new ones for when they're really needed. The demand varies greatly. Maybe you live in Minnesota, where the summers are still snowy, I don't know. But for me, in Oregon, the summers see a short lapse in constant rain. I guess the winter is just a good time to "tune-up" your weather resistance.
(BTW: First, I didnt just stumble in, I've been following since post one. Second, I am 17, I own an Audi. I saved up my money and bought a nice car. Took me 2-3 years of saving and working 10-20 hour weeks the last year or two. So whats it matter to you? I decided on an Audi a long time ago and I stuck to my guns and accomplished the goal. Go **** yourself if you think thats a negative thing, because I sure don't. Have a nice day *******.)
