I need a quick answer to a dumb ?, where do I plug in to do a scan?
I'm trying to fix my misfire problem and I have a really dumb question, where do I plug in the scanner to get the codes (and will the scanners they have at an auto parts store like AutoZone that they let you use work on an Audi, or do you need an actual VagCom?) I looked in the manual and didn't see anything and yes, I tried searching the forum but I get a million responses and I don't have time to look through them all, even if it is there the store closes soon and I need to get back and get this done. Thanks!
For just checking codes for a check engine light, the plug in point for the OBD-II is under where your left knee would be if you were sitting in the driver's seat, there's a little weird shaped hole that you plug the scanner into. The scanner at Autozone or wherever will be able to check/clear your DTCs (check engine light) - VAG-COM is just way more in depth.

Awesome-got an answer in 7 minutes-THANKS! I'll go look for it and then its back to the AutoZone! All I need it for is to check what the CEL is on for, I'm pretty sure its a misfire from what has been going on with the car. (rough idle, runs rough, etc)
