Excellent info, guys, except for you, Chris. I guess you live by the mantra: German Car, German Specs: "Guttentite"

Thanks for the specs, SickB5. Hey, did you have a DIY or a manual for when you did yours?

Torque specs for head
1/2 in drive + breaker bar

crank that bitch down in a counter clockwise fashion without breaker*
Go back and make a half turn with 3 ft breaker

*I take no responsibility for the n00b that does use this

It's a piece of cake. You won't need a DIY or manual. Once you start you'll fly they it.

6 hours??!?! You're kidding right? It should take a 12th of that tops.

Brad, don't waste your time taking off either manifold, the coilpacks, or the sparkplugs. That's all unnecessary.

i started this project knowing NOTHING about these cars.
i had no clue what i was doing and no clue what i was getting into. also i took out the plugs and coil packs cause i also replaced those with new coils packs from an s4 and new ngk plugs.
and i took off both manifolds also because i was replacing the gaskets.
ALSO because i cleaned the entire head all 20 valves replaced, valve guides replaced.

here is wheni first pulled my head 12 valves bent all 8 exhaust and 4 intake

and this is what a $73.89 sodium filled exhaust valve looks like (i bought 8)

and this is when i was done and had all my new lifter and cams new chain and adjuster all new seals, gaskets and CLEANED up.

so maybe if i did it again now that i know what im doing i could probably have it done in 12th of the time it took me the first time.
