Not exactly easy if you dont know what you're doing. Go on google and type in 'audi b5 timing belt replacement' ad you should find plenty of DIY's. Ecs tuning also has kits for the replacement. They are usually replaced together.

Ok thank you, you wouldnt happen to kno how much it usually costs to do a head gasket job and a valve cover gasket? Its a 12v v6 2.8 and i just hit 191,000 and everything is going out. I have alot more little problems i want to ask about but i dont want to post alot of different threads :/

replacing it is not too bad as long as you have basic mechanical knowledge. It's really more time consuming than anything

Just to impress upon you, if you botch the timing belt job, the engine is junk. It's doable by a newbie, but getting the tensioner down in the right fashion can be tricky. Honestly, at 191k needing head gaskets and a timing belt job, I would just start looking for a replacement engine. Probably an easier job than all that anyway. And possibly cheaper, if you can find a car getting parted out locally.

i had no mechanical knowledge and i still complete my tbelt job completely myself. it was kinda difficult but very time consuming. i would do it again just fir the learning experience.

With the cam locking bar anybody can do a timing belt, there's pretty much no way to screw up the timing if you do it the proper way. Without the bar you're taking a risk but it's still not too bad.But honestly I would be looking at a used motor if I were you, the cost of all that and the time you would need are just not worth it at this point.

Just be patient and have the cash ready, something will come along. Alternatively talk to an independent service shop, they will have a junk supplier. In northern illinois i use Rockford or PKQ.

Oh, i was thinking of the rear mount set up too, a friend of mine had a retarded fast Camaro with a rear mount.
