Default Intake/Exhaust for a 2.8L

What's up, I'm new to the forums and wanted your opinions. What is the best intake/exhaust combo for a 1998 2.8L V6 Audi A4 (quattro) that will boost power and eco? I'm also looking for an exhaust with a nice crisp note, not a loud annoying drone that will wake up the neighborhood. Thank you everyone for your help!

Most of the intake options for the 2.8 are going to be eBay or DIY. I'd suggest staying away from K&N cone filters. When over-oiled (and they almost always are) they're ruin your MAF sensor. AEM makes very nice "dry-flow" air filters in the 3" range that should be perfect for your intake.

As for exhaust, I'd recommend going custom. You can pick up a nice muffler and resonator, then have a muffler shop bend you up the rest for a lot less than it would cost to buy a pre-made cat back if you can even find one. Stay away from the chain places though, they'll charge you an arm and a leg for inferior work.

I'd recommend Vibrant for the resonator and this Magnaflow for your muffler. Couple of guys on this forum are running this exact setup with 2.5" piping and it sounds glorious.
