Default interesting oil pressure problem ??

okay under cold conditions nothing's wrong. but when my car is warm and the oil is warm that's when it happens. If I'm in gear say using the tranny to slow down and my RPM's get under 2000 the oil pressure warning comes on. now if I'm out of gear nothing happens. this has been quite frustrating and wondering if I need to look into a fresh engine build before summer when obviously the car will be warm most of the time. oh yeah, a 2000 A4 Quattro 1.8T. I am running mobil1 full synthetic with a mobil1 filter. not sure who makes the mobil filter but it was the only one in stock. I believe the weight is 5W20 and I live in Central NY right out side of Syracuse ( for a weather comparrison). Any help would be greatly appreciated. oh and it's only got 130,000 miles on it. shoot my 87 5000 had 395,000 before I gave it up.

I have 140K mi. and use Mobil 1 10W-40 High Mileage. I burn
a quart in 10K mi. How much oil do you use?
I use a Mann W940/25 oil filter.

I don't use enough to tell. I'm at 4000 miles on this oil change and keep checking it because of the pressure problem and hasn't gone down at all. Also just had it on a lift for 3 days and not a drop on the floor.

Use an oil with 40 weight, as 0W-40
or 10W-40.

it sounds like you need to up the weight. i was at 5w30 and the pressure light would come up and i had ticking. i switched to 5w40 and it all went away.
