Interesting Sounds...
Hello there fellow B5ers, im back again for some more answers..
Okay there have been two interesting sounds coming out of my car recently, one having just come up and the other being there for a couple of months that hasnt caused any concerns..
1. Ok very important: i've noticed that there is a weird sound coming, from where i think, the rear drivers side wheel.. It happens at any speed above 30 mph and is most noticeable in the highway when im traveling at constant speed. Ivve tried to record the sound but to no success, but in description it sounds like a single engine air plane.. it literally sound like i bought my self one of those little airplanes and am sitting in it. its not loud but rather faint.. to make it more imaginable, it sounds like a single engine plane flying over head...
2. there seems to be squeeking coming from the same side, but not from the tire.. it happens sometimes when the car is on but stationary.. i was thinking it might be the fuel pump.
HELP

HELP
1. Bad wheel bearing. Very common problem.
2. I can't help ya. I have a squeak back there occasionally when im moving and its cold but it goes away in a couple of blocks and I was told its the seal on the wheel bearing (the brand new wheel bearing...) I usually work on my car myself but there was no work at the shop so one of the guys helped me for free and damaged the wheel bearing seal... Being my car he just through it in there after trying to put the seal the way its supposed to be but I have a feeling my bearing will go out soon.

2. the only thing there is maybe your cd changer if you have one. there's nothing else on the rear driver's side that would squeak lol.
wheel bearing costs about 250 labor at the dealership. parts costs 50

The squeak could be the muffler hanger. If it sounds like a reciprocating squeak and is very faint and only happens when the car is idling, it very well could be. I noticed mine doing that a while back but I don't have any ideas on what a good remedy would be. I'm not too concerned about it, as my muffler is still hanging there so I don't think its too big of a deal, but the bearing you definitely will want to take care of.
Hello.. another symptom.... But when im driving, i started to swirve... and when i turn the wheel to the right it gets louderish and when i turn to the left it seems to go away... does this comfirm the original diagnosis of the wheel bearing..
