Introducing myself.
Hey guys i posted recently about a wheel bearing problem but anyways i wanted to show everyone my car.
Little about myself.
Name is James 19 years old
This is my second car, first car was a 2002 VW Golf GLS that was totally in a car accident. Been without a car for about 7months now. Been saving money for this car for about 5 months. I got it through a family friend who was looking to sell it.
The car
1999.5 A4 1.8t Quattro w/Sport package.
Miles - 120k with a new timing belt.
omething I already love about it is the car is one of the models with HIDS
list of things I eventually want to do.
- Obviously i want it to sit a little lower, but its on the sport suspension already which looks better then most stock A4 suspension.-
- New wheels/tires eventually.
- Easy performance mods. (not a car expert but I have plenty of friends)
Few questions.
Car isn't registered so I cant drive it yet but.
2. My car does NOT look black in person or in direct sunlight yet is not dark enough blue for santorin but does not look BLACK at all IMO. What does it look like to you? Its registered as black color.
3. Radio reception sucks, I found one station out of the 4 I usually listen too that isn't static. The Previous owner left me with a Sirius satelitte radio unit but not sure if I'm going to sub to it.
4. How to use the trip odometer? need to use it to track gas milage because the gas gauge does not work.

Be sure to check out the stickies at the top of the B5 section about mods
1. http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec114.shtml This is most likely your problem. I had the same issue.
2. It looks like it's Volcano Mica Black, paint code LZ9U, but you can verify that by looking for the code in your trunk and on your driver's door. My B5 is also this color and it does look black, grey and blue depending on the lighting. It seems to be a pretty rare color; nice find.
3. From what I've seen so far, some people find their radio reception is awful, while others don't have problems at all.
4. Try pushing and holding the stalk in to reset it....unless it's not that simple on the facelift models.

I paid 3300, previous owner didn't really need the most cash he could get for it because he is already pretty well off. Was a family friend, about 8 months ago he took a BBQ grille and a really nice dresser for his new home from my family. Then i ended up getting into a car accident. He offered me the car whenever he got a new one which was last week.
im also in connecticut near bridgeport, monroe actually small town near it. cant listen to any radio stations like 93.7, 97.1 and 10.35

I see your a neighbor,Monroe isn't too far from me. B5's are common in Bridgeport,CT. I see them everyday.
Too bad she's not registered,you could have came down to the meet in NY next weekend to join a Fleet of B5's driving down the street,its gonna be sick.
