Default Jack Points

I've done some searching and I can't find any decisive spots. I plan on putting my jack stands where the stock jack goes. (right next to pinch weld, on flat spot, parallel with weld) As for the floor jack, can it go on the large bar that runs across the car. Has a large flat(ish) surface that seems good. Subframe member maybe?

As to the rear, I dunno where to jack.

If you look underneath, it's about directly aligned to your rear side of the front tire. There's a small boob-shaped thing bolted on, which you're supposed to use your jack with.
Of course, I didn't really figure that until I got my canals kinda twisted and bent after hundreds of jackings.
If you can't reach that point, use your canals to get it up, then get an axle stand under it at the jacking point instead, if you're gonna have it up in the air for an extensive period of time.

That would be the subframe point where the subframe brace is located. You can use that point to jack up the car, I just put my jack stands on the pinch weld but IIRC you can also use the other flat spot too.

For the rear you can just use the rear cross member spot right behind the rear diff(if you have quattro). This will lift both sides up at the same time so you an place the jack stands under the pitch welds on both sides.

Thanks mike and Veegard. Yeah, my stands aren't solid on the actual pinch. I assume thats what you mean. So I go RIGHT next to the pinch so that the stands are touching the side of it.

I usually use the boob shaped point. But with the subframe point I could get both sides in the air at once couldn't I?

You dont want to use the actual subframe that runs under the pan to jack the car up.

Because it is hollow and isn't meant to support all the weight of the front end of the car.
