the joys of a lowered car...
so i was driving along in a parking lot, thought i could clear the speed bump so took it alittle bit faster then i should of and pulled the flex pipe back leaving a nice hole in my exhaust. i asked around and was told you have to order the whole pipe with the flex pipe on it and change out the whole thing...knowing that in a few months its a good chance is will scrap again is there anything anyone has done to protect your underside? and instead of changing out the whole pipe is there a quick fix or is there some purpose of the special audi flex pipe?
haha i was going to say clamp a soda can on it for now. thats how i fixed exhaust leaks in a hurry i never did it on a flex pipe but its worth a try? haha this is just what i needed to read when im thinking on lowering my car.
I had something like that happen to me a few years ago. I am not lowered, but I have the sport suspension. I saw this speed bump that was really big, so I very slowly crept over it, and the bottom of my car scraped. It was a commercial property, so I got a hold of the owner and told him his speed bump was way to large and that my car had rubbed. I also told him if anything ended up happening to my car as a result, I would be sending him the bill. He told me that he had to do because people were flying through there and he was trying to protect his employees. He said that he tested it again, and didn't have any problem and that he was not responsible. Luckily nothing ended up happening to my car.
That sucks - there's usually an unfortunate lesson learned with a lowered car. I ended up learning that with my Z. Send a PM to Hiwords - he had to deal with a torn flexpipe recently and had it repaired rather than replaced.
Yea I bottom'd out nearly a month ago and tor up my flex pipe.... I just took it in and got all new piping run and an IMCO exhaust. Might aswell spend the extra and get some performance out of it. I just asked the guy to tuck it up as high as he could.... now when I go into my undeground parking I dont hear any rubbing, stock I used to hear some slight rubbing.
