I am a new and proud owner of a 99 2.8 quatro. Car is amazing. Only a few peoblems with it though. One is the rer brakes are shot and need to be replaced and i was wondering if this would have anything to do with the abs going off right before you stop like a slight pulsing. The other concern is a loud front end every time you hit a large bump it is loud or sounds loose. Ive heard some talk about the control arms needing replacement any other suggestions?

 

ABS sounds like it's working correctly from what I can understand from your post. Check your control arms.

 

How do you check the control arms?? Also the abs goes off all the time when you are almost stopped. is this just a warning the rear pads are shot or is there a larger problem then that???

 

um no. the abs light should not be going off every time you brake. its probably a loose connection or wheel speed sensor or something. but no its not supposed to do that.

 

Where in his post does it say about the ABS light? Granted if the abs is going off at all stops, there might be an issue, but if the abs light was actually on, there would not be ANY abs whatsoever.

Now, I think we need more info from the OP.

Ok there is no abs light what so ever. what happens is when you are almost stopped the abs goes off. it doesn't happen all the time but occasionally it does. like I said the rears are shot andx need to be replaced. didn't know if gthis was a warning that the brakes arew low or if there iis something more wrong with the abs.
