just gave the car a bath... new pics
I used to have a black car, so I feel your pain. IMO, black cars look the best of any color with a nice, clean, polished paint job. The depth and reflections you get are incredible. Unfortunately its IMPOSSIBLE to keep them that way.
Phil, I like the grille and the smoked tails. Did you use the spray gunk or the film? I plan on doing that in the spring but I can't decide if i wanna go dark or red. Also, what have you done to the paint in the way of restoration? Clay bar, buffing compound, etc? That will definitely help get rid of some of those scratches and stuff. Sorry to hear about the guy that debadged the car before you got it, not much you can do about that, just plain stupid lol.

lol it sux... i used the spray gunk.. icleaned the the tail lights with acetone first to make sure there was nothing on them at all... waited about 5 minutes the windex them twice, then just did one even coat on both and it turned out pretty decent in my eyes
as far as paint goes, nothing yet... im planning on getting the car repainted either brilliant blak again or nogaro blue once tax season comes
and for the other guy, i didnt dry the car cuz i was lazy and i just wanted it clean, it was covered in dirt so i just sprayed it off

I dunno man how bad of shape is the paint in as a whole? That money might be better spent on a detail shop buffing the crap outta yer car. It'd be way cheaper. But from the looks of it, you're gonna need to get both bumpers and possibly the trunk lid re-sprayed.
Yeah the tails look good. Did you just mask them off? And it doesn't look like you did the backup light, was that tough to mask off too?

yea backup light was a lil pain but it was simple, but no i removed the entire tail light from the car it was easier that way lol
but as far as paint goes, there is a deep scratch on the passenger rear door might be a lil dented to so might need bondo too, hood needs to be completely redone, looks like someone tried to fix it but messed up, its pretty dented too... but im thinking about getting an aftermarket hood the euro hood with the vents on both sides
but i went to audi friday and ordered the touch up kit for 18 bux, comes with brilliant black and audi clear coat... so hopefully i can fix the bumper with that and MAYBE the trunk too

hmmmm yeah sounds like the whole thing is in pretty rough shape. Kinda makes you wanna slap whomever owned the car before you got it ya know? lol If you're gonna repaint it, i'd stay with black. And make sure you take it to a reputable shop, not Maaco or some schmuck with a compressor and a gun.
lol... my roommates step dad has a paint booth, it pretty much services everyone here where i live, he makes on average of about 50k a month so i know hes good... i brought my friends car to him and he did an awesome job... but u say stay with black.. any reason why?
The prep would be easier. Going from black to noggy, you'd have to wet sand, do all the body work, prime the whole car, and it would be glaringly obvious that the car was repainted if you looked around the engine bay, nooks, crannies, panel edges, etc.
Nogaro is my favorite Audi color by far, but it'd be tough to pull that off

well there are a lot of bondo that we will have to put in anyways... and there is red showing under the paint on the trunk which makes me wonder if the trunk has been replaced... but i didnt think 96 came in red
Kinda looks like an unmarked cop car here, anyone else see it?
Looks clean, did she get a waxing too?
+1 for back to black, that ***** awesome, I use it on that rubber panel thing between the side windows. Although C/F would look much nicer haha. I'm digging it.
