Default Just started considering the early 1.8T...

Basically ive been dead set on getting a 328is for the past few weeks but with them being really tough to find down here in stick ive broadened my search a little bit and the audi 1.8t has always intrigued me a bit. Is it capable of putting down some decent numbers relatively cheaply or no? Im not looking for a rocket, but being able to do low 14s or 13s would be pretty sweet. Thanks!

I went from a 325i to a 2000 a4 after my daughter totalled the BMW. BMW's handle like nothing else, but I'm happy with the A4. If you get at least a 2000 model A4 (MAP sensor equipped), you can crank up the boost to get pretty good performance, and drink less gas than the bimmer. BMW's are pretty thirsty. Keep in mind the Audi will require a timing belt replacement at some point and the BMW does not. All in all I feel like I've got as good a car as before, but the Audi costs less to drive. You really can't go wrong with either one, those Germans really build good stuff.

Almost forgot one big difference between the BMW and the Audi - the bimmer was really loose in the wet, almost like a muscle car. The Audi quattro is rock steady. If you think you'll ever be driving in snow, the Audi wins hands down!

my 97 a4 1.8tqms I feel is a lot slower than my 93 325is 5speed, and i actually feel the bmw is better on gas because it is only 2 wheel drive, and yes bmw's can be pretty loose in the rain, but it can also make for some good fun. they areboth fun in their own ways.

wait, you live in florida right? if so, just wait a little and get the 328i/is or any e36with a staight six trust me you won't be dissapointed, i know with the elderly pop. in florida they are hard to find in a 5spd.and if you want a 1.8t i wouldn't buy a quattro for florida weather theres really no need, they just waste more gas, so with that being said i personally would just buy a jetta if your considdering audi/vw, but to tell you the truth if you are set on getting a 328 get one! I like my 325is more than the a4 because i feel it drives a lot better stock, a e36 will come up soon enough, you just have to search a lot, they are worth the wait, to tell you the truth a lot of my friends wanted e36's or e46's before they bought there audis but they just didnt wait long enough for a good one to come up. now one of my friends is selling his 00 a4 2.8 to buy a e36 m3 and the other still trys to convince me audis are better, but loves my bimmer every time he drives it, long story short, just wait for the 328, the right one will come for you like it did me.
