Default k&n intake

Hey guys,

ok so i am completely aware that k&n or any intake does nothing for our cars other then sound but that is pretty much what i want, anyways my question is I have a 99.5 A4 1.8T Quattro Tip and on the k&n website it does not give me the option to select an intake for 1999.5 so would a 1999 K&N intake product 57-0282 fit? Also what are the chances this will destroy my maf if any?

Thanks,

Tyson

Skip the K&N and swap your cat out for a Labree HFC. If you're chipped, you'll feel a difference and it changes the exhaust note as well. It's also just as easy as replacing the airbox.

If you aren't chipped, save for a chip and DV and skip the K&N.

If you don't want to swap out the cat, save for a muffler to change the sound. Spring for a cat-back setup if you can.

According to K&N, none. In fact if you call them about it, they tell you about this ridiculous test about how the oil doesn't come off the filter at over 100 CFM. What they don't tell you is how much extra dirt passes through the filter over the stock paper element.

According to real-world info and first-hand experience, likely.

The labree HFC shouldn't effect your emissions since its still a cat, just a better one than you have on there now. What WILL effect your emissions is a test pipe.

If you're nervous about an intake, you also might try a K&N panel filter w/ the airbox mod. (search "air box mod" you'll get lots of hits) However with that, be weary of driving through puddles or dusty areas, with the high-flow nature of the K&N it sometimes lets too much sh*t into your motor

edit: the whole point of the second paragraph, but what i forgot to write (oops lol) is that you will get a bit louder with the panel filter/airbox mod, w/o the problems usually associated with the full intake (high IATs, ICM issues, etc)

Hey, I'm in Ontario as well... I'm looking to get a cat-back exhaust, any idea what I should be paying for this?

Looking for 2½" piping & a magnaflow or borla exhaust.

if you get it custom from a muffler shop like 200 tops...?

if you get the stainless sets from borla or neuspeed or whatever like 600, but its not gonna be 2.5"...

Yes, you can even reuse the stock gaskets if they are in good shape.

The outlet is larger, and you'll need a larger down pipe (at least 2.25") to get the full advantage, but it will bolt up to your stock d.p. Labree designed it to be used with stock or aftermarket cat-backs as well as stock K03, K03s, K04 upgrade, or GTRS / GTR2871r elim turbo upgrades.

Buy it directly from Labree. Call them and request a shipping estimate. Just to put things in perspective, a stock cat costs almost $800 U.S.d + core. $250 U.S.d + shipping is a bargain. And, it's well built and has a good company backing it!
