Default k04 question.....

Does the k04 bolt up to all the 1.8t stock stuff?? After I get my fuel pump and filter I was thinkin about getting a chipped ecu and a different turbo. Bassically want to slowly build up this car. I would like to go big all at once, just dont have that kind of extra cash to be droppin on it. Also does anyone have any suggestions that pull extra horse out of a 1.8 cheaply?

read the stickies, they cover this topic in depth. and yes the k04 is a direct bolt on replacement for a k03, you can even run it on the stock software (though you wont get the extra HP without a tune).

It'll tell you everything you need to know about mods and everything. The threads are for more specific questions.

You can also find a LOT of info by using the search feature.

I think any tuning company claiming 70hp from a new chip is exaggerated.
On 91 octane gas, you will get about 20hp from getting it chipped (with no other mods)

APR, GIAC, Unitronics etc all add about 50hp and 50tq. that is probably crank HP not wheel HP, but you get more then 20hp from a chip. 70 is only slightly exaggerated. the only thing you need with a chip is a better DV.

70 is reachable...i have a problem with my wastegate so once in a while i get a 30psi spike then it holds 25-26psi all the way to 5900rpm then drops to 22 and stays...but we had 232hp but 320lbs of torque on the dyno with that wastegate problem, but normally when the wastegate decides to "behave" it holds at 22-24psi(temp depending) pushing 274lbs of torque, this is with a uni file but with a custom tune on 93 but it runs great with race gas...and i am FWD with everything as stiff as it can be in the drive train and axles
