Don't buy their keys it a waste!!! I bought one. They say 90% off of dealer price that's because it 90% junk and no one will cut the blade. I had to wait a month to get it. Pooooooor customer service. Go to esctuning.com even the dealer isn't that much. It's not hard at all to program either. I'm sure there a diy around here somewhere.

Just go on ebay and buy any 2 button FOB and then look at this post by me from a while back with links on how to program it. In regards to the blade, the dealer sells it and they will have to cut it. I'm not sure how much it costs as mine was given to me by a fellow member and my local dealer cut it for free. I then just had to attach it to the FOB. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure, good question, perhaps other members can chime in. My guess is that it wouldn't work because maybe they are coded to a different RF range.

The dealer has a paper on how to program it. They gave it to me when they replaced the battery in mine.

The OEM 2 button remote for your 97 A4 is 8L0-959-753-01C for 78.75 dollars. In stock also. I asked our service advisor and he said he's never seen a 97 A4 that didn't have keyless entry. So you should be able to buy a remote and program it as others stated on this forum and have it work for you. Please let me know if you have any questions. Jeff.

Sorry for the delay. You are right. For your 97 you need 2 keys. One for key "on" in the ignition. Then you lock the drivers door manually, release the key but leave it in the door lock cylinder. Then push the unlock button on the remote, wait 5 seconds, then push the unlock button again. The lights should blink, and then that remote in your hand will then be programmed.

Sometimes, if that doesn't work in the drivers door you have to lock it from the trunk, doing the same steps as before. If it still doesn't work, then you need to replace the comfort module. That is the vacuum motor and module all in one assembly that supplies vacuum to lock and unlock the doors and trunk.
