I am looking at a 97 A4 Quattro with the VR6. I talked to the current owner and he said its got a pretty bad oil leak about a quart every month, and he also said there is a Rattle in the Catalytic converter. About how much would it cost to replace the gaskets on the VR6? I have never had an audi before but i have currently have 4 VWs so i have some knowledge on audis i guess.

 

Audis never came with a. Vr6. It costs a decenrt bit of dough to get one in there

 

It depends on what gaskets are leaking.

 

that would be ******* awesome to find an a4 with a vr6 in it already. its a lot of work to fit one in there. but yeah, it really depends on what gaskets we are talking about here

 

Wouldn't say a lot of work, 034 has everything needed. It just cost a pretty penny

 

i havent done too much reading on it but it sounds pretty involved to me. but yeah, parts would be a bitch on the swap. hands down a vr6 would be my choice for a motor in a b5.
