Default Looking to get a set of 18's

I've got a 2000 1.8t quattro. I've done nothing with the suspension, and dont plan too for a while. Will 18's with 225/40 tires fit with no rub? I found a place that does wheel and tire combos for a pretty good price. Probably wont get them till next summer because winter is just about here but i want to know if they'll fit.

shouldn't be an issue. if you drop it later, then you might have problems but even then i would think you'd be fine unless you slammed it.

As ive been looking around i see that the width of the 18's that sites reccomend for the car are 7.5 instead of the stock 8.5. I think their 8.5 right? Will 18x8.5's fit? or am i better off to go with the 7.5's?

yeah they'll fit with no problem. they'll actually leave a pretty ugly gap in the wheel wel.
even if you lowered it (which i would do first) you shouldn't rub. Unless, like cca4 said, you slamm it.

There'll be a huge wheel/fender gap. I got 8.5's but if you'd rather not risk it get 8's. Not a big deal unless you match tire width/wheel width

yeah I know it sucks! it will look like a 4X4 lol
but once you lower it, even with the stock wheels it'll look sick. IMO.
you can go like on cardomain or something and look at a4s with 18s and look at the diff, (lowered vs stock). like this one http://www.cardomain.com/ride/835573 you can see what it looks like with 18's before andafter lowered...

Haha, yeah your a little low, just a little. it looks dirty though. Those are kind of what i want. A nice five spoke. Maybe the individual spoke being as big as yours are but something to that effect.

I have 18x7.5s with zero rub. I have S4 springs on the car and I still have a large gap. You're going to have wheel gap until you lower the car, hands down. When you size up your wheels/tires, you're trying to keep the rolling circumference of the new set the same as the OEM set (which that tire size will give you - same size I'm running BTW). When you drop the car, you won't have problems with rubbing unless you have the wrong offset on the wheels. Go with +35 and you'll be fine.
