Default Looking for opinions and links, Making an S4

I currently have a 98 Audi A4 B5 1.8T 5speed manual quattro, stock in every way...now I am gonna be deploying soon and plan to save most of my money and buy a commuter when I get home but want to turn my A4 into an after market S4, I'm looking for suggestions on replacement parts and links to places I can buy from.

essentially I'm looking into ECM,ECU changes
A new bigger better turbo
Intake inner cooler, exhaust
Also if the 1.8T can be fitted to another tranny such as the 2.7T 6-speed?

it would make a lot more sense to just save your money and buy a real S4. I asked a question sort of like this a few weeks ago and thats what everyone told me

for starters I decent S4 costs way more than any upgrades I have been able to find for the 1.8T thus far, and I want to do it this way because I enjoy wrenching on my vehicles, I really wanna turn it into a project car not just cop out and buy an expensive fast car, far more satisfying to do it on your own.

can i turn my a4 into s4 is always asked
you will spend 4x the amount trying to build your 1.8t into a 2.7t.
dude i am looking a 6 speed out of a s4 with 130k and its 2gs (just trans nothing else)

i feel like i am enabling a herion addict

but here is motor link happy trails
this is baseline. still need harnesses plumming intercoolers. ecu. ect.

i don't think he wants to take the 1.8 out and switch it with a 2.7.... i think he means s4 power.... seeing as he asked if he can put a 6 speed in his a4 and mate it to the 1.8

but for s4 power, you could do a simple kit from www.ringer-racing.com

an elim kit is rated at 350hp...... or you could get something that will get you all the way up to 600+ hp...... just depends on how much you want to wrench/spend

the elim is just a swap and drive kind of deal.... the 600+ hp kit will be custom work and internal motor work.......

kits start about 1500(ish) to the sky is the limit pricing

just keep in mind you will need supporting mods to go with any of these kits ie fmic, clutch, might want to upgrade to at least a tt/a8 brake kit.....

but the very first thing i would do is maintenance stuff

is a built 1.8t better than a built s4 tho i know around theese parts you can sell a 1.8 for more than you can find an s4 sometimes. why not just start with an s4 and get the mods for it. you would pay the same for the mods and if you start with something better you would achieve more. Example my friend has a wrx (totally gay) he has 10k in it and its still lesser than the stock sti, less pwoer worse handling. I'd start with an s4 they can be had for cheap enough

Thanks that's alot of what I was looking for, i mean even after engine upgrades and brakes I'm still looking at 5k, is it really so wrong to wanna make my own S4, I don't just wanna buy one and call it good, I like making things my own

why are you calling it an s4? modded 1.8t a4 ≠ aftermarket s4

ok let me simplify this for you....

lets say for argument sake #'s, and all work done at shop, similar mileage/condition(i know a4's/s4's can run more or less depending on condition) i am trying to use examples of 2 cars similar miles

a4 = 5k
gtrs(stage 3) = 5k
supporting mods(clutch, fmic, mounts, etc) = 5k

s4 = 7k

ko4 setup(stage3)15k +/-
supporting mods = 5k

so you a4 won't be stage 3 s4 power at this point but those are both the cheapest turbo upgrade you can do to the cars to get any true power.....but even a stage 3 a4 can run you 15ish grand, and will defiantly be similarly powered to that stage 3 s4

and you a4 will still be an a4...... but if you want an s4..... sell your god damn a4 and buy an s4..... don't be the millionth customer to say how can i make my a4 into an s4... start a really big thread about it then stop posting cause you sold the a4 to get a honduh
