I have a similar problem on my 1.8t. Mine shakes a little on random occasions though when I'm idling. I can see the rpm needle slightly move when it happens. It kind of seems like the engine goes slightly out of balance or something for a split second. I thought I heard it could have something to do with a crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor??

Hey guys. I have this same problem with my 2002 a4 3.0 automatic. After driving about an hour the car started "acting up" like you said. It jerks when slowing down and while stopped it shakes and occasionally has some jerkiness while accelerating. Then the problem can suddenly disappear and runs like a dream!

Two codes popped up; an Engine Coolant Temp Sensor and a Camshaft position Sensor. If they solve the issue (or I find out what it is) I'll get back and update the thread, promise.

Ok you have the wrong thread this is the B5 you can go over to the B6 area and they will be better suited to help you but never the less i have the same problem and im extremely sure that it's my coil's im gonna replace them soon you should try that take off your engine cover and inspect them and look over them mine's are so FU@cked up that the tip's are like melted but i dont get that much jerking from them but my car only does it when im idling for more then a 1 or 2 min's or when im stopping
