Lowering car, boiling shocks...

Lowering car, boiling shocks...
I'm just curious.... I want to lower my car because I just bought some new rims/wheels... And I don't have enough money for a whole new coilover kit, all i want to do is lower it... But I've had people tell me that you come across all sorts of problems when all you do is buy new springs. Anyone know anything about major problems with just new springs...?

i want to see the wheels on the car!
if you can not afford coilovers go with new struts and springs.....or shop in the classifieds. i bought my KONI coilovers off an AZ member for $500

I'm sure you already know this but you will kill your shocks with aftermarket springs.
I would suggest save some money to get the shocks/springs combination or coilovers.
Good luck!

Yep, the OEM struts will wear out quickly with lowering springs - they're not designed to run at a lower ride height. Check out www.stratmosphere.com for Vmaxx coilovers - $599 a set last time I checked their site (that's for struts, springs, perches, and adjusting wrench).

Just keep in mind that you guys may be in the minority - a lot of people (in other cars as well, not just in Audis) have accelerated wear on OEM struts when lowering springs are used.
