hey i had a question and am opened for all suggestions. I have an 01 a4 1.8 quattro and looking for and exhaust system. I want it to be loud but have a deep sound and not so much "ricey"! i was thinking of getting 3" straight pipe nd then a Magnaflow muffler.? i was also looking at Neuspeed's stainless catback system, but not sure how it sounds? ? so any opinions would be appreciated thanx.....

 

you know what i did was look them up on youtube. that way you can hear what it will sound like. anyways i have a magnaflow on my V6 and it has a pretty deep sound, not ricey at all. but i think borla would sound even better.

 

do you have the stainless piping? or jus standard ?

 

i have the stock piping, and mid-resonator. just the magnaflow catback exhaust.

 

2 3/4 piping is big enough for the stock turbo. I have straight pipe right now to a magnaflow muffler sounds awesome!

 

i have the 2.25 inch borla system and it sounds amazing.. no drone on the highway.. really only gets loud loud when you are in boost and on the gas.. otherwise stays relatively subdued.. and in my opinion is plenty loud enough.

 

ok cool....another question does the stainless-steel piping make a difference in sound? ?

 

Techtonics uses borla mufflers with 2.5" piping and they have there own dp and hfc as well. A complete borla system has 2.25" piping which isn't much of a difference compared to your stock 2.17" piping. You'll get better flow with 2.5" and doesn't sound ricey at all.
