Default Manual Vs Automatic Noob question

Did some searching and it looks like you guys don't favor the automatic transmission in the A4- is that true?

My concern is that while I'm looking at purchasing an A4 of course I find more automatics than manuals (and all have 120K mileage at least) but if there's a bigger risk I rather not take it..

Thoughts?

When I bought my used B5 I was specifically looking for a manual because there isn't nearly as much to go wrong with it. A clutch is relatively easy to replace compared to rebuilding an auto trans.

Anyone who cares about performance is going to buy a manual. The increased control, direct response, and power transfer characteristics all favor a manual.

What kind of "bigger risk" are you talking about?

My 01 A4 B5 1.8T AWM ( Audina is her name by the way. ) is a Autobot lol

I don't care much for drag racing or anything of that sort. I am not a speed demon, i prefer luxury cars, opposed to sports cars. I like the luxurious look of the B5, while looking sporty at the same time.

I like to eat, drink and jerk off while driving, can't do that with a manual.

Oh yes you can, maybe it takes a little more talent though.

Yeah, you could do all of that while driving manual... granted since getting married the need to please myself has reduced drastically (not to mention who treats their B5 badly enough to subject it to masturbation?) lol. But I eat and drink in my car all the time.

Automatics are very dominant in southern California when it comes to B5 A4s (or probably any car for that matter). I much prefer manual transmission personally.

Like bshusted said... it is cheaper and easier to fix or rebuild a manual tranny than it is an automatic.

My baby is auto too but I would have preferred a manual.

Kamil, your led light kit is awesome. little pricy at $70.00 as i saw the same extensive kit for around $33.99 bucks on the bay.

If you are referring to krautoled's kit then it is a little pricing but well worth it. The bulbs are much better quality of anything you'll find on ebay, plus they have a lifetime guarentee. Think about it: $70 on time for ever or $34 and have to keep buying new kits every year. Plus emil is a great guy and provides great customer service.
