buy a 1.8t awd 5 speed very reliable compared to the s4 and just put a big turbo on it and be done with it =] but of course its gonna cost you so find a a4 already all nice and done up pretty i would not buy a ragged out a4 too many issues

i am some info -like Andrew said DON'T BUY A RAGGY ONE. i just bought a what i thought was decent 99 a4 but the dash was light up like a Christmas tree, the mechanic quoted 4k for fixes of little stuff. I am going to do them all myself considering its ridiculous to pay that much for any repairs you can do yourself. If i could buy one again id pay an extra grand or so to get one with perfect records so you don't have to guess on the timing belt and always worry about little maintenance things.
