Default Mechanic said....

So I just got new wheels/tires put on and the guy told me two things.

One:
When he put it on the lift the two front tires hung down strangely. The bottom of the tires swung in as they dropped. (his words)

Two:
The back right tire feels like it slides in and out a bit. And is loose feeling wiggling it up/down and left/right.

It was a Walmart tire guy so he is not a full blown mechanic, by his own admission, so he couldn't tell me anything more than the behavior of the tires.

Only had the car for less than two weeks so I don't know if any sounds it makes is normal or not.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Take it to a real mechanic, never trust what anyone says at chain shops like that because they're either clueless or trying to bill you for something that that doesn't need changing.

I may be on the wrong track but when my cars go for a safety check, the mechanic often shakes the front and rear tyres left and right and up and down and if there is too much movement, he defect's the car which usually results in having to get 1 or more suspension bushes replaced.

Yeah. he said he did that and had play in both directions. is it the bushing most likely then? Never heard of the suspension bushing. Is that the main bearing that the drive axle goes through?

Get to a shop that knows Audi suspension. The quicker the better.

I'm not conversant with the Audi suspension, but the suspension bushes are just the rubber or polyurethane grommets that connect the different parts of the suspension system. I personally do not worry about them on my private road going vehicle unless they start to make a noise (metal on metal clanging which means they are completely worn or are close to it), or I notice a difference in handling. Imo they don't affect safety as much as the inspectors say. In saying that, on a commercial vehicle I had a cheap aftermarket suspension bush disintegrate and cause a breakdown. Any vehicle with age or km on the clock is going to have some wear in the bushes
