I have put a scan tool on the car and tried to turn it over and it didn't read any code but it's not starting and I thought it could be a altinator that could could be making it do this.

It's likely not at the spark plugs, it's higher up the line, like the battery or ignition switch.

When I try to start my car the battery drops from 12 down to the 8 and that's what I was thinking it could be battery but how can a ignition switch going to cause this

Sorry I'm trying to gather more info as to what your problem may be.
The battery should drop when starting so that sounds ok. (not sure what the EXACT voltages should be but 12 and 8 sound right)

Does it have compression?

You need compression, spark, oxygen, and fuel.
If you're sure there's good compression, you're getting fuel to the cylinders, and oxygen to the cylinders, then there is indeed no spark. Something in the electrical system is not getting a spark to the plugs.

It could keep it from starting, yes. But if you have no spark, that'll be your main issue.
