Missing OEM air intake
I bought a 2001 A4 1.8qtm and the original air intake is missing from the front, over to the airbox. Anyone know were I can get one, maybe someone is modding and replacing it. I tried several online part places and couldn't find one as well.....thanks palmerlaker
I agree with nhl. Unless you have your head set on going OEM, an aftermarket intake would be cheaper and pretty much just all-around cooler lol. The stealership is gonna take an arm and a leg for an OEM piece =/. My next question would have to be, have you been drivin it with no airbox?
It has an airbox, just missing the intake duct from the front of the grill area to over where it goes into the airbox and air filter. I'll probably end up getting an after market one, any suggestions....Really just something that works good and not to pricey...Thanks palmerlaker
My advice is to get in touch with a few "auto recyclers" aka junkyards. Plenty of second hand parts to be found at a price which is much less than the stealership. In anycase aftermarketsolutions are debatable as to giving you any real improvements with a stock motor (and will likely cost you more than the used part). The factory unit is cold air / outside engine compartment fed, and that missing piece is essential to making the system work properly. Remember chrome and anodized partsmay look cool, but may actually be slower for your car...no kidding.

I guess u guys know that OEM airbox is the best intake unless u going with BT.
Getting an aftermarket intake on a4 1.8T might give you 1hp (IF), but def. will make your DV/turbo sound louder.
