Thanks for everyone's input. I think next oil change im going to try castrol. I've been using full synthetic mobil 1 5-30w, and at times i top off with 10-30w. I have noticed though, during summer hot days, the 5-30w makes the lifters knocking more audible.

the bigest filter is k&n

Don't do that, it's been proven many times over that the best non-OEM filter you can buy is MANN (from NAPA).

I use Mobil 1 Conventional 5w-30 with a K&N filter and I have had no problems at all.

Where has it been proven? I like M1 and Amsoil filters. K&N not so much because they sacrifice some filtering for flow.

They're by far the most common-used filters for german cars, any half-decent mechanic uses them and they're sold in pretty much every parts store that specializes in german cars. Also if I remember correctly I bought oil and a filter from a BMW dealership for my last car and they gave me a mann filter.
