Angry The most aggravating coolant leak....

Hello all.

I have a 2001 b5 a4 1.8t tip. I have been having the most aggravating coolant leak issue. After noticing a small amount leaking around the center of the car I took it to a local Audi dealer. They diagnosed it needed a water pump and rear coolant flange. I had the water pump changed last mont. When I got the car back I noticed the next day it was leaking to almost a steady drip in the area of ( looking at the radiator ) the bottom left corner of the radiator. I took it back to the dealership and they said I needed a new radiator. I got a new radiator and installed it. Then 2 days later BAM! Trannie goes out. Just got the car back today with a rebuilt trannie and still have the leak at the bottom left around the radiator.

So my guesses are... Could be a bad radiator ( highly doubt ), or some old hoses down in that area leaking like a siv. Can anyone shed some light on if around the lower front of the radiator there are rubber hoses that carry coolant that may be leaking? Thank you guys.

I forgot to mention I am yet to change the rear coolant flange but the main bulk of the coolant is not coming from there

I had a coolant leak not to long ago, mine was where the coolant temp sensor sits in and there is a clip that holds it down, my clip wasn't there, put one on and it solved the leak.
If its around the radiator, then look around at the hosing and see if one is cracked. Even better take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it for free, this is ridiculous, they are changing all this stuff blindly and it hasn't solved anything. By the the time your done with them, they would have swapped your engine.

Thanks for the heads up. I found my upper radiator hose has a crack on the hardened plastic, underneath my view I will change that today... I am going to attemp the DIY for the rear coolant flange but having an awm it's about impossible for me to get back there and work....

When they rebuilt your transmission, you should have paid them a little extra and told them to go ahead and replace the rear coolant flange. Would have made sense.

I would take it back to the shop who did the water pump, they should have made sure the whole cooling system was pressure checked, before giving you the car back. take it back to them and make them fix the leak for free!!!!! u should not have this head ache bc they miss diagnosed the leaking part.... know what I mean. pm me if you still want more advice on how to deal with the shop. but part of any cooling system work is to pressure check the system and make sure there are no more leaks present. coming from a mechanic my self.
