Ahh motor is out thank god. Now I have to wait for my pilot shaft bearing to come in. It was a pain because theirs so much small stuff hooked to the motor.
I have to put the wiring harness on my other motor. I also have to swap flywheels because that motor was from an automatic. Why type of bolts hold the flywheel on so I can go pick a set of sockets up like that?

Oh boy, the flange on the crank will not be compatible with a flywheel. I believe an auto crank can be machined to fit the flywheel, but I'm not positive. But flywheel bolts are like 17s or 19s iirc. If you don't have an impact then you need to use 2 breaker bars so it won't just spin

So I got the wrong motor? That asshole told me it would bolt right up. Just have to change the flywheel.

I just ran into the same issue with the flywheel not fitting on an auto engine I am installing. Can the flywheel be modified or is the crank the only way to fix this? It would have been nice to know this when I bought the motor. crap!

Does your flywheel fit on the crank at all?

The od is the same, but it sticks out too far and the id is not large enough for the pilot bearing to fit in. I am swapping out a 96 2.8l. No one asked auto or manual so I guess I am a little lost on this one? I already returned the old engine for the core charge so I can't see what that was like. Maybe I will stop by and see if they have it sitting around.

Take a pic and post it up u said it sticks out to far. I want to see this. My flywheel seemed to fit fine over my crank.

It's 20 deg. out side, and I didn't feel like going out to the barn tonight. I will get some pics. I want to stop buy where I bought the motor and get some more info too.

I didnt need to shaved anything just order that spec pilot bearing.

Looks like an an insert on the end now that I look at it a little closer. I plan to tap the center hole and use a slide hammer to remove. I will have it machined to fit the flywheel and re-install.

Woow that does stick out far. Look at my pics. Mine was only half that. You have to grind down the nose with a different pilot bearing. Read this thread I made.

The insert is finally out. I tried a blind hole bearing puller with a slide hammer, but this did not work. I drilled the insert out to 11/16 and taped the hole with a 3/4-16 tap. Then I used a threaded rod with a nut welded on the end and the impact gun. Came out in 2 seconds.
