Default Mounting German License Plate on '97 A4

Bought my girl a custom german license plate for the front of her car for Xmas. However it has a smooth bumper and no license plate bracket or mounting tabs.

Anyone have any suggestions for mounting this thing? I have an aversion to having to drill her bumper. Is there a good template out there? Any advice on a good clean install?

Well, the Euro bumpers have an indent and mounting holes for euro plates. I also looking into getting a factory bracket, (originally for the euro plate, then for the VA plate when i moved) and they're well over $100. Not cool. In the end I couldn't bring myself to drill into my bumper either, and attached mine to the grille lowers with zip ties. I don't think that would look right w/ a euro plate though. How about some 3M 2-sided tape?

Man that's so funny, cuz that's exactly what I did! I tied wrapped the center louver (sp?) to the front bumper to reinforce, then I ran tied wraps thru the bracket and around both the louver and the bumper supports. It's looks awesome, and yes it's a Euro plate.

BTW, I ordered mine thru this guy: www.germancustomplates.com . His name is Alex and he was super nice and very quick to respond to questions. He also sells on Ebay. I bought four plates (my dad has merecedes) and they were only $122 including shipping from Germany and bracket. (bout $30 ea).

Very cool man, glad it worked out well for ya. I wanted to mount a euro plate as well but with the front VA plates i didn't wanna risk getting a ticket or something dumb. If you search this forum there have been several (some got quite heated actually lol) threads about this topic. Post some pics and lets see how you did!

when i got mine it came with a plate holder you can find them on ebay and it has a bunch of holes in the back of it designed to fit just about every cars predrilled plate holder then i just put some screws into the holes that were already on the bumper for the us plate i think it might be a little higher on the right side but idc its so little of a difference you have to look at it for a bit to notice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Europ...Q5fAccessories

thats the frame that came with mine.

you may just have to drill holes into the bumper, i got lucky, i had that on my old bumper which was shitty looking and got a great deal on and S4 bumper that actually had an indent and holes for a euro plate.
