Default Mpg?

I was just wondering what some of you guys were getting for mpg in your a4s. To me is seems like mine is slowly going down in the short time i have owned the car. At the start it was a combined 21 which is a little low, but last time i filled up it went down to 19. I know i need to bring the car in to get an oil change, and maybe a new air filter. I haven't had time to look at it being so cold out.
So again just wondering how far off i am from average.

1.8 or 2.8? Are you late on your oil change? Does the car warm up every time you go out? Your oil is a lot thicker when its cold... so if your making a lot of short trips the thicker oil will be noticeable.

I dont think ur doin too bad, mine goes down quite a bit in the winter. Im lucky to get 275 from a tank(just over 16 mpg). I idle my car up in the winter, oils thicker, I drift around occasionally etc. In the summer i can get 350 with my city/highway combined (21 mpg) so i think ur doing real good.

I get around 400 or so on a full tank on the highway (25-28), but this is rare!

My 01 1.8t quattro seems to be getting bad gas mileage also. Someone already asked this question once "how many miles do you get per tank?" and a lot of people said 400+. WTF? I average 20-23 MPG in highway alone. I reset it and drive 60 and get 23 MPG max? Sucks, but i love my car (especially in this snow) haha.

lol I used to get over 400 miles to the tank in my 1.8t passat. I change my oil and pre cat o2 sensor is good too.

Are you serious? I got 29 w/ my 2.8. That was at 70mph for must of the trip. All you guys getting low mpg need to look into what oil your using, tire pressure, any bad tune items, and have you changed changed (or flushed if your an auto) your transmission and changed your dif fluid. All of those can contribute to your mpg. While some more then others your oil and tune items are the largest ones w/ tire pressure right behind.

Also I average about 18 in town and I tend to drive a little overly agressive. Although normally I shift out of first gear early because I want my transmission to last until my clutch goes out and there both ready to die.

My last fill up I was averaging 24 combined. In the summer I was getting 28 - 29 combined. This is in a 96 2.8 quattro.

I do mostly country roads and average 20.5 mpg with my 98 2.8 30v Qm. I have tried to "hypermile" a little in this car and averaged closer to 24 on my regular route. But the car is so fun to drive and run the gears out I have settled for the 20.
