Ok, i don't knowwhy all you 1.8t drivers that said that you've driven a 2.8 say that it's slow. first of all you're alll f'ing dumb, or you've driven one with problems... thats the only conclusion i can come to.. second... i have a 1999 2.8L 30v V6 BONE STOCK!!!! no mods, at all!!i raced an s4 advant the other day and it's one of the only cars that's beaten me so far! here are a list of the cars that i've beaten street racing...
1. 350z From what i could hear it was turboed, had an exhaust and a whole bunch of visual mods, n ways off the line, he spun out and i took the advantage, then we went up to 125mph untill i made a turn.
2. Neon SRT-4, he had a blow off valve so that means he had a turbo, and i really don't know what this kid had under his hood. it was a pretty fair race, but i won by a car length.
3. Roush mustang, ok didn't beat him but, i stayed on his *** the whole time, he never got further than two car lengths
4. golf Gti- Vr6, It was pretty stock, i kicked his *** off the line, and later all i could see was two little lights in the distance
5. RX-8, he had a body kit, dunno what else, off the line, i kicked his *** but he got closer every time i shifted... lol damn rotary engine...
6.New civic si, he didn't even stand a chance...
7.jetta 1.8t, i think it was a gti, from the rims, but couldn't tellit was debaged, he was pretty fast but he never passed me...
8.s4 avant, he kicked my *** off the line, but i stayed on his tailuntill we got passed 130, i got a ticket the night before... lol

sooo, here's to all yo idiots that think the 2.8 is slow. all i know is that my engine is probably one of the smothest running engines on a a4 that i test drove, when i was looking for cars...

^+1 you see that deer smushed into that BMW?... thats the way you fail. I've driven a couple 2.8's, yes they run wonderfully, but my 1.8 with ONLY a chip is faster in a straight line. Around a track I think a stock 1.8 will be faster because of the weight saving. Maybe you should try driving a chipped 1.8 and STFU

 

seee... idiots!, i'll tape my next race, to proove to all of you!!! i've hit 145 no problem in my car, didn't go any faster because i ran out of road. now to all of you who say you have the 1.8t, first of all it's much much slower stock!!! even with a k04 it's not as fast as the 2.8,i raced my brother in his 1.8t jetta that has 30hp more than the a4 and weighs a hell of a lot less, and there's no comparison... i kicked his ***

 

LOL, the best part of this thread... even if it wasnt turbo'd it would still take you... Listen you have a 3500lb car with less than 200HP... The **** is not fast... but good for you for lovin your car...

Do yourself a favor- realize that there are MANY 30v drivers on this forum and not ONE of us thinksourcar is anywhere near fast. You are delusional and need to seek professional help.

 

the problem with this thread is not the fact that he's claiming the 2.8 is faster... it's that it's the 30v version. CLEARLY we've all exstablished that the most superior engine in a b5 is the 12v...
