Default My Left Nut, and a Cop...

So today i was heading to work, About a 20 minute drive to a local ski area where i work. I was going down the normal road thats 55 and i was going around 65 id say. Nothing to crazy, my normal speed along with others on that road. clear open road, jamming out to music, nothing crazy. All of a sudden my radar goes crazy, i slam on my brakes hoping to get back to 55 fast. Before i know it i see the SUV cop behind another car approaching me in the other lane. She had to turn around and come get me. I thought about ditching but the road was rather straight for about half a mile, even tho i could have wasted her, i wasn't really sure what i wanted to do. So i slowed down to the speed limit and waited to get pulled over. After she made smart *** comments about my radar detector being a waste of money and time, she continued to tell me i was going 74 in a 55. 185 dollar fine. Cool, my left nut was asking to given some attention by her because thats **** that i was going that fast. Idk how accurate real police radars are. but i live in a town of 4000 people. Our technology isn't to high tech. The speed she was traveling behind a car that was going probably 50, and me coming around a corner meeting her, going 65, threw a 74 out there? I guess i can't be to sure everything was copistetic, then again i was the one speeding and i am fully aware of that. But now, only having my license just over 18 months, my real question is if anyone knows the lengh of time you need to hold your license before you get it taken away for speeding. Some have been saying 18 months, others 2 years. Anyone have a site or hard proof of a lengh of time for the State of Maine.? Thanks.

That's bullshit dude. You're screwed until the revolution comes and we turn cops into rodeo clowns.

i never heard of that. i think its like a matter of points or something? like a certaim amount of miles per hour equals a point, a certain number of points equals you lose your lisence. atleast i think thats how it works here in PA. oh and the points stay for like years. and your insurance goes up if you get them.

correct. Maine laws suck. We have a 6 month time when you first get it, you can't drive past midnight or before 5 in the morning, no people in your car except immediate family, and if you get pulled over for any reason violation what so ever, you lose your license for 90 days auto. After that and before the 18-24 month thing, what ever it may be, its according to the violation, but pretty much guarenteed to be a suspension. Ive been pulled over 6 times for various speeding things and a few rolling stops and such, but never gotten a ticket. Today was the first and if it is a 2 year time period, then ill lose it from anywhere to 30-90 days, i think its only 30 for that, but still a pain in the *** and a joke.

One is nothing its just if you did that within your first 6 months of having ur license u would be f'd on insurance but you wont get ur license revoked u prolly only got a couple points taken away which will possibly go away after court....... If I sound like an idiot I am sorry but this is what I know LOL

dude same thing happened to me the other day i was just cruising home form the pass and i was going just about 10 miles over and a suv cop passed me flipped the lights and i knew it was for me i was also thinking about running but i decided to just pull over and wait. he was actually pretty cool and gave me a lower charge but if your thinking about the accuracy of the gun you could challenge the ticket and ask when the gun was last calibrated and if it isnt recent they usually throw it out or you can get a lawyer and have them get it off your record

yeah once i find out the exact dates of it, ill decide if im gonan take it to court or not. If i will end up losing my license, imgonan play the dirty roll and find all the dirt i can on the cops and go in against them, if not, i still might do it, but im mainly just worried about not being able to drive haha

if you ask them when the last time they got their radar gun calibrated, they will ask you when was the last time you got your speedo calibrated. good luck.
