my new audi when in a coma!
well i just got my 97 Audi a4 1 week ago and the oil lamp light came on today it had oil etc etc and the car turn off and now it wont start i checked and the metals on the crank got stuck and when to hell and back because i can hear them its stuck wont even let the starter go lol fail..
Well am going to pull the engine out today along with the oil pan so i can check the crank,metals, and oil pump to see what happen.
I Gotta send the crank to get it machine if it did get mess up.
Should take me no longer than a 5 days to get everything done.
ill keep the post open on all this process am still sorta new to Audi but its no different than any other car so it should be a walk at the park.

Audis are a lot different from other cars.
Your from over the pond, so maybe not in your world but from american and jap cars, its night and day. Sounds like your on a roll tho, what exactly do you mean by "metals"? bearings? You have a 1.8t? if so its probally sludge that cvause the failure.

. yes i got a 97 a4 1.8t quattro, by metals i mean main bearings etc etc. I suspect sludge as well but when i drain the oil i notice that the previews owners put a really really thin oil am talking close to water like am the 3rd owner now.
Now then am on my way down there today to take off the oil pan i should be able to see if there is any sludge, i also suspect the oil pump am replacing that no matter if it is or not just to be safe, am pulling the entire engine out so i can fix anything that needs to be fix and check anything that needs to be check since am going to have it all out anyways.
Well here it is i took out all of the engine stuff motor mounts and all all i need is to pull it out and take of the front, the engine is now lose and ready to come out. Saturday morning i will do this and am thinking of replacing the old k03 with a k04 while am in there, add the front mount inter cooler, am getting a silicon hose that goes to the turbo intel they look nice and strong, change the oil pump and hoses vacuums all that good stuff. more pics as i progress it was really easy actually i don't know why people are so scare of these cars.

so i was thinking now that the engine is close to out and am going to be there working on it i decided to get new rings for the pistons might as well fix this sucka good plus i got the time on my hands and its a good way to explore this audi since its my 1st time taking one apart lol but so far so good. i already order some stuff like the k04 turbo gaskets and some other stuff ones its done ill drive to those giac ppl so i can get a chip for that k04 .
Its out and strip down 

the sludge that cause the problem lol i sorta clean it before the pic u can see the stuff on the floor

clutch is already in need to be replace it had hardly any grip left so stage 1 clutch for sure for get oem .


funny thing is the crank is fine did not suffer any damage weird but now am still changing the bearing and main etc.

so here its just there am going to rebuild it new piston rings new oil pump new clutch new turbo bottom end rebuild etc etc etc i might even get a little more compression pistons maybe or might just keep the same. but yea stay tune. am already in here so might as well right? plus i love my car so no way am going cheap or cutting corners like others do
