Default My tachometer is 1k to high? Normal?

Here's my tach at idle...

It is at 1500 just at idle! It's been like this forever, and it doesn't seem to be a problem, but it might be? When I gun it, the tach jumps past 7500, and hits the plastic stop.... Any ideas?

Oh BTW, the airbag light is on becuase I replaced my CC stalk, and like an idiot I started the car up without the airbag attached... I have no clue why the CEL is on... Oh well... Main problem is the tach...

Thanks,
TP

get a vag com cable from ebay man. it'll save you from all this that you're going through. you can turn the airbag light off with it and scan codes too. also, when you get the cable, download lemmiwinks, you can adjust fuel settings with that. also vag com can adjust the idle rpm. i would clean your throttle body too.

My bud's got a vagcom, and there is a hole in the rear ashtray where it should be, is there a different place to put it?

it's under the steering column towards the door a bit.
