Don't forget to add the the extra 12mm from the rim difference Just the rim agenst the hub was flush w/ the fender, so anything more is poke. And yes we measured twice cuz I thought it seemed extreme but nope

 

add an extra 12mm from the rim difference to what? the 8.5" wheels would look 6mm less of an et than you for the extra .25" (6mm) they are sticking out. 8" et33 shouldn't sit flush with the fenders

the black b5 pictured is feerocknok's, he had the same mercedes wheels I was selling on his car. 8.5" et38 with 20mm spacers

 

My oem wheels are a ET45 stock, the 33s when I put them on sit flush/close to flush

 

He should be poking A LOT more with 8.5 and 18 offset. Could be just the angle and the missing front bumper.

 

8" et33 shouldn't be flush I don't think...

even if you'd consider 8.5" et25 flush, 7mm isn't A LOT. his adjustable control arms could be making the difference also

 

I don't think he's cambering that much. Although it's hard to tell without the front bumper.

At the end though, all of us have different definitions of what "flush" means.

 

Could you not have them holes slightly elongated? A good wheel shop should be able to do that for you... its not much thats needed.

 

I'm trying to not let the wheels set me back to much. But at this point I'm not sure if I'll be able to have a set by NY So we are still moving on! Small thing yesterday replaced my cabin filter and gave a bath!

Just sold the wheels! Things are looking good! Might be putting off my window tint and TB due to found a set of wheels today. Look like HP Evos but not sure on the exact name.
