Default name this part

N00b to the Audi world, just picked up a b5 1.8t quattro. Somehow when I was checking the car out I missed this hose that is completely severed in half. Does anyone know what this hose is called or what it is for? I got the best pic I could, it is right under the intake mani right my the dipstick and appears to run to the oil filter mount. any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

what year car? The tubing under the manifold is all important and vacuum related or PCV related (maybe). Thus, you must have a failure code with it broken. welcome to the audi world and you need your codes read at an autoparts store (they do it for free). That will help in the maintenance of your ride.

No code will appear from the crank case breather being torn. It just puts blow-by back thru the intake. Most B5's have this problem and the owners don't even know it.

With that piece broken wouldn't you have a vacuum leak? The PCV valve is open while the engine is in vacuum, and the block breather is the eventual path of the PCV valve. It might not be enough to throw a code, but the engine could run better with it fixed.
