name that sensor?
yeah i happened to meet the tech at the dealer one day and said he would do my car as a side job and doesn't like to take tips either (which is good for me!).. he REALLY knows his stuff and im learning a ton from him... im not the most engine savy.. but with radios and wiring.. i work wonders
sry if i didn't explain that fully
i don't want to get rid of this car already
only had it like 5 months
just wanted to see if there was anything quick i could do but i guess i may have mangled the MAF bad somehow :/

You think that the super tech you know would know what the "sensor" is under the hood. Thats the N80 valve (evap purge regulator valve) just for reference.
The airbox mod isn't causing your problems either.

^aw, you beat me to it!
My questions:
1. Has the car been scanned for codes to see which cylinder is misfiring?
2. What is "the airbox mod"?
3. Why doesn't your tech know it's impossible to put "too much air" into the airbox? As long as it passes through the MAF, the engine will only take in what it needs and the ECM will put out as much gas as it needs.

well i guess actually what he meant is air is coming in where it doesnt need to be.. kinda like a vac line is bad and air coming in like that..
and thank you 30v and auditech for the info...
i have to wait until mon to get this all checked and get a new code and prob will be talking to you 30v to get that new maf to dave some mullah
do you think that would be the direct cause of the misfire? b/c i didn't touch anything past the airbox

so a little update.. got my car on the comp today with my audi tech guy
MAF is fine.. apparently (so far) getting propper air flow at idle but didn't get a chance to run it with the computer in the car while driving
it also read i had a misfire in 1-4! BUT none of the coils are bad.. he drove and and was just like this is wierd b/c it has power but not like it should in lower gears.. but said this is def not a coil problem
so i go back 2morrow to do some driving around with the computer hooked up and possibly and prob a new MAF

Does he have a vag com? If he does check data block 32 which is the fuel trim. If it has a positive number it means the ECM is adding fuel to compensate for extra air like a vaccum leak. A vaccum leak would cause a miss-fire on all cylinders if it was bad enough.
he always checks for vac leaks.. he has this spray he uses to spray around in the engine to see if it gets sucked in and if it does the car will idle out
he does have a vag the one the audi place supplies for you.. he still has to run a few more tests and see whats going on (he is a certified audi tech at a certified audi dealer with a bunch of years of experience)
