Just put a new head unit in and there is a loud surge through the speakers when you turn it on and off as well as changing stations. maybe a factory amp issue?

sounds like a ground out issue to me. check all your connections and make sure nothing is touching anything it shouldn't be.

they also sell "ground loop isolators" that may help you if you can't track down your issue.

Did you put an aftermarket head unit on a Bose system? Bose speakers and amps are not compatible with aftermarket head units, they are low impedance units and some of the speakers have amplifiers built into them. Helps to know what was there before, and what you put in.

You're putting a speaker-level signal into an amp that's looking for line level. You need a pre-amp wiring harness from Metra to send a line level signal to the rear speakers and the amped speaker level signal to the fronts (amped by the head unit).

i used a harness from crutchfield that uses 2 sets of rca's. they said it was meant to work with the factory amp.
